What developers do
Developers find land or buildings with potential, secure planning permission and finance, manage construction and then sell or let the finished homes. Projects range from a single conversion to large new neighbourhoods.
Buying a new-build home
Most new homes come with a structural warranty, commonly for ten years, from a provider such as NHBC, Premier Guarantee or LABC Warranty. Ask which applies and what it covers.
Visit completed developments by the same builder, check how they handle snagging after you move in, and ask whether they are registered with the New Homes Quality Board.

How do I find developers near me?
Enter a town, city or the first part of your postcode in the search box to see providers covering that area. We are adding businesses to each directory, so if there are none near you yet, our guides explain what to look for when choosing one.
How should I compare providers?
Look at the services each one specialises in, check any professional registration that applies, and read independent reviews. Then contact two or three directly and compare their answers, fees and how quickly they respond.
Does it cost anything to use the directory?
No. Searching and contacting businesses is free. Any fees are agreed directly between you and the provider you choose.
How do I add my business?
Use the List Your Business page to send us your details. Once reviewed, your profile appears in the relevant directory and in location searches.
