Surveyors & Valuers
Know exactly what you are buying, with a survey matched to the age and type of the home.
We’re building this directory
We’re adding surveyors across the UK. If you’re one of them, list your business and be among the first people see here.
Survey or valuation?
A survey tells you about a property’s condition: defects, damp, structural movement and the repairs it is likely to need. A valuation tells you what it is worth. Many chartered surveyors do both.
The valuation your mortgage lender arranges is for the lender’s benefit and is not a survey.
The three levels of RICS home survey
Choose the level to suit the age, size and condition of the home.
- Level 1: a condition report for newer, conventional homes in good order
- Level 2: a more detailed inspection for most standard homes, optionally with a valuation
- Level 3: a building survey for older, larger, altered or unusual properties, or where you plan major work
Choosing a surveyor
Check membership of RICS or the Residential Property Surveyors Association, ask about experience with similar properties, and confirm exactly what the report will cover and when you can speak to the surveyor about it.
Choosing surveyors
Common questions about searching, comparing and getting in touch.
How do I find surveyors near me?
Enter a town, city or the first part of your postcode in the search box to see providers covering that area. We are adding businesses to each directory, so if there are none near you yet, our guides explain what to look for when choosing one.
How should I compare providers?
Look at the services each one specialises in, check any professional registration that applies, and read independent reviews. Then contact two or three directly and compare their answers, fees and how quickly they respond.
Does it cost anything to use the directory?
No. Searching and contacting businesses is free. Any fees are agreed directly between you and the provider you choose.
How do I add my business?
Use the List Your Business page to send us your details. Once reviewed, your profile appears in the relevant directory and in location searches.

Are you one of the surveyors we should be listing?
Add your business and be found by people searching in your area.
